University of Kelaniya, Blockchain Technology & Building on Cardano Workshop Series | Workshop 2

The Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Centre of the University of Kelaniya Faculty of Computing and Technology continued its month-long workshop series on Blockchain Technology and Building on Cardano with Workshop 02, conducted in collaboration with CoinCeylon x Intersect Sri Lanka Hub.

Diving into Blockchain Technical Basics

The second session of the series focused on Blockchain Technical Basics, offering students an in-depth look into Cardano’s technical architecture. Topics included cryptographic hashing, blockchain architecture comparisons, and Cardano’s UTXO vs. Ethereum’s account-based models. This technical exploration provided students with a strong foundation in blockchain transaction structures and Cardano’s unique scalability and security model.

The workshop also featured a practical session where students set up decentralized wallets using @lace_io. For many, it was their first time learning about seed phrases, Web3 security best practices, and hands-on interaction with decentralized technologies.

This real-world experience prepares students for future sessions involving smart contract development, dApp creation, on-chain governance, and blockchain transactions.

Special thanks to the University of Kelaniya and Dr. Rasika Rajapaksha, Head of the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Centre, for their continued support and dedication to blockchain education.

With active student participation, Workshop 02 marks another step forward in equipping Sri Lankan students with practical blockchain skills. Stay tuned for Workshop 03, where students will explore blockchain application development, NFT minting, and more on the Cardano ecosystem.
